The It Girls.... 

  

Hair is always styled to perfection, they have the job every woman would love, they style can't be compared, the pretty girls the woman that many women would love to be. An interesting thing though most of these women are not superficial but using their popularity on Instagram to promote change, make a difference, and promote their brand. I decided to showcase 2 women who are on Instagram and show what they do. I got this idea by watching a video from TED entitled; How Great Leaders Inspire Action

In this video TED talks about why some people succeed in things and others who do the exact thing as people who are successful don't make it.  Ted stated that there were things you must convey to stand out in life.  The three things are; Why, How, and What? Why are you doing what you are doing? How are you conveying your message? What do you do? These are 3 great questions to ask, and I believe by showcasing these 2 women they can show us what TED wants the world to know. 

  

First off, I want to introduce you to Lauren Elise a popular figure on Instagram. Straight off the bat she tells you WHAT she does. What does she do well she's a Doctorate, EdD, Founder of a 501c3 Nonprofit called Adjust Your Crow Mentoring, a CEO at the Social Media Doctor, and Nonprofit consultant, and influence, speaker, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and from a little place known as Atlanta. Why does she do what she does? It's simple, she wants to show people she more than looks, she wants women to know that it you work hard, you can obtain what you want and need in life, and she also wants women to know that the world is theirs. In the communication world she is what they called an "Opinion Leader" women look to her and want to follow suite. How does she convey her message to the world? She does this by using the popular social media site Instagram. She has over 27 followers who are watching her every move and being inspired by her. Instagram is a great tool to get your message across to people around the world. I believe Instagram has given people the platform to promote Why, How and What they do. Some people would not be known if it wasn't for this platform such as Lauren. Second off we have Lauren Wilson otherwise known as @iamlaurenlyrics on Instagram. What does she do? She promotes marriage, she is a realtor, a life coach, and an owner of a real realtor. I've been following her for a long time. In my opinion when I first saw her, she was more about showing the things she had. Such as purses, clothing, etc. but she soon developed into a young woman who was all about her business. Why does she do what she does because she wants to showcase to women that there are many ways to be successful in life. If you follow her journey through Instagram, you see how she successfully became a realtor. Now of days she posts videos of the houses she has for sale and describes their unique quality's.  She also has a very successful hair business where many women purchase her fabulous hair extensions. She motivates women by posting quotes on being successful and she is not shy by sharing her marriage to world and motivating women to tell them to not settle for just anyone. How does she convey her message to world? She does this by non-other than Instagram. Again, Instagram is a useful tool that can get your message around the world and with almost 90,000 followers she is going the right way. Finally, we have Malika Barber otherwise known as @louisnpearls on Instagram. What does she do? She's a fashion designer of unique and up to date Greek clothing, she's a personal stylist, and she's known for her great hair, and creator of the five-dollar challenge on Instagram. The five-dollar challenge as where she inspires women to hold on to every five-dollar bill they get for the entire year. When the year is over the women can count and see how much they saved and then decided how they are going to treat themselves for having self-discipline throughout the year. Why does she do what she does. She does this for several reasons. First, she wants to show women the importance of saving money and show the importance on why saving money is so important. Second, she shows women that they can create a business at any age. Her business is called the Para Girls where her an another popular figure on Instagram @missdiamon had created some of the most unique garments for women who are in sorority. It takes no time for the gear to sale out and they are making waves. How does she convey her message across by the world? These are just 3 women who are making waves on social media. There are so many I would be all day introducing you to these women. These women have the it factors. As TED said people who become influences are thinking outside the box. Their doing something a little different from the rest. They are making sure people know Why their doing what they do, how they are doing what they do and What they are doing. If you want people to hear what your trying to say, then try TED method. Also, Instagram, Facebook, Snap Chat, YouTube, and other social sites are great ways to get your message across. With confidence. originality, and patience you can be the "It Girl" too!  

Change is Gonna Come.......

Childhood! Wasn't it a great time in life?  I remember when the Super Nintendo came out, when you would hear a beep and you would check your beeper to see if your crush had sent you a special code, or when it was super cool using three way on your cordless phone. Those were the times, but like anything, change happens, and you must adapt to to what's going on in today's world. It seemed like the simpler times but in today's technology have made it easier to do a simple task with a click of a button, a scan of a phone or a quick look at the watch.  While reading Why Digital Natives don't Like Newspapers a post from Alan D. Mutter blog Reflections of Newsosaur , I learned  the importance of the word adapt while learning about the Asset-Light Generation. You might ask; Who is the Asset-Light Generation? This is today's generation who rely more on social media blogs such as Facebook and Instagram and use their phones to find a phone number or read up on what's going on in today's world. Many times, people can get use to how thing "always have been," and neglect how the world is changing around them. Today's world no longer gets a kick out of getting the Sunday paper and going straight to the comics section or digging deep into the paper to collect coupons that can save them precious cash at the local grocery store. Now you can long onto a website of almost any newspaper and see what's going around your local area with just one click. There are digital coupons that can be scanned at any store and the comics don't have the same appeal as they did in the past. Today phone even act a credit card, with a scan of pen pad at local store their purchase is ready in minutes. Time have changed!  That's why the word adapt is so important because if you are not adapting you are not growing. Some may ask: How can we get people to adapt? Well one answer to the question is by having an opinion leader. According to Everett Rogers Diffusion of Innovations (1995) an opinion leader is a good person to have to help people with change. These are people who "everyone" wants to be, and they influence people worldwide. For example, this could be the pretty girl, with the nice hair, shape, and wardrobe and relationship. She can be the tool to show how an old way of doing things can be done better by adapting to a new way of doing things. Opinion leaders are who people follow and start to see their way of thinking. People can become hesitate at times and sometimes it takes the push of a certain person to get the ball rolling.  Again, change will happen if you are ready or not for it. The best thing to is get ready and get ready to ADAPT to what lays ahead, because NOTHING last forever
